We have a very cost-effective solution for buying aircraft placards for all types of aircraft with super fast production times.

Speaking to a few customers over the years it’s apparent that lead times and the cost of buying placards directly from the manufacturer is not always the ideal solution. In some cases, we have produced interior placards using the same polycarbonate materials which pass the same burns testing and come with a certificate of conformity as a standard for a third of the cost…

…We can also produce placards from a photo or image along with dimensions and in some cases original part number (if we have it on our system) over the years we have built an extensive library of decals, placards and mandatory markings.

If it’s AOG we have your back in some cases we can turn around an AOG request in less than 24 hours, however the thing our customers benefit from most is our unique Aircraft Interior Placard Manuals which is basically a full catalogue of every placard for each individual Boeing aircraft, in most cases our customers use the standard kits but now and then we have certain airlines that lie to include their own artwork which works just fine.

Each manual includes the original manufactures part number and a unique Larchfield Aerospace part number which means they can keep ordering entire manuals or individual placards should the need arise, obviously by purchasing a full interior kit you will benefit from a nice discount.

The manual kits come printed, cut and packed with a list of included placards so all you have to do is removed the old or ones and stick the new one in place, it couldn’t be any simpler.

Well, here’s a great resource from business insider for those of you that want to know how the painting process works.

Watch the time-lapse video here it’s pretty mesmerising and amazing.

One of the big things you might notice though is the huge price tag for getting your aircraft livery looking beautiful like the one in the video and that’s to be expected when you understand how much time and effort goes into painting.

$100,000 – 200,000 to paint a livery per aircraft is going to turn out a fair few trips to the bank manager even if you have just a small fleet of aircraft.

There’s a good chance that as an airline owner you’re going to be leasing those aircraft and that means you have to give the aircraft back in the original condition and that includes sending it back in the correct colour, so you can x 2 those painting costs per plane.

So what’s the solution I hear you ask?

Before I answer that I think it’s worth pointing out the value of having a unique standout livery.

Everyone around the world loves to see a livery that’s a little bit different including the regular plane spotters that dedicate their time photographing and posting some of the worlds best on the internet which can only mean great publicity and advertising for airlines.

This project was two-part which involved Larchfield producing and installing two different commemorative liveries on this Boeing 777 cargo aircraft alongside an Airbus 380 passenger plane.

The design was presented to Larchfield via our long-standing client Etihad Airways Engineering.

The livery design was produced panel by panel in the UK before being shipped out the Abu Dhabi for installation by our  Larchfield team of professional installers.

As you can imagine installing a large livery piece by piece is challenging but our team managed to install and ready both aircraft in a total of seven days saving massive expense on downtime and the cost of painting.

As time goes on more airlines are realising the benefit of using aircraft approved vinyl for this kind of short-term design work, in fact, many more airlines have realised that using vinyl is also perfect for wet-lease agreements.

Technically speaking the Year of Zayed livery design has really pushed the boundaries of what is possible when it comes to using aircraft approved film.

As you can imagine there are many considerations to take into account which could affect the performance of the film due to the environment.

3M provide warranted solutions for peace but there’s also the challenge of getting the design to look correct on the aircraft with so many curves and angles to deal with, especially with facial imagery the slightest mistake in the application could make the whole image look completely different to the original design.

Needless to say, we are very proud of this livery and enjoy seeing the enthusiast capturing it on camera around the world. We are looking forward to many more projects like this one in the future.
